ARIEL DAVIS
Ariel Davis (she/her) is a biracial African-American Certified ADHD and Recovery Coach. Using sensory-based strategies and other actionable tools, she supports and empowers Black professionals and creatives to create more joy, flow, clarity, consistency, productivity, healing and ease in their lives.
Ariel’s coaching approach is informed by her professional ADHD coaching training with the ADD Coach Academy and with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and ADHD Coach Laurie Dupar, her mentoring work with teens and adults who have a dual-diagnosis (addiction and another mental health condition) leading addiction/recovery groups at the McAuley Adolescent Psychiatric Institute, as well as her volunteer experience in the Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.

When we struggle to activate, focus, sustain effort, self-regulate, remember, take action or maintain follow-through, our ideas and creativity- our “buried treasure”- remain buried. These can be buried underneath both our mental clutter (shame, anxiety, depression, forgetfulness) and physical clutter: “To-Do” lists that don’t get done; bills and parking tickets we forgot to pay; things we’ve missed- birthdays, appointments, presentations at work, grocery items; stuff that we just don’t know how to organize; as well as difficulty managing our emotions, responsibilities and relationships.
Many of us have tried unsuccessfully to deal with issues related to self-acceptance, self-esteem, feelings of guilt, and executive functioning skills through substance use, love addiction, codependency and other dysfunctional behaviors. Even if we're already using a variety of supports, we can still experience a sense of boredom, stagnation, overwhelm and somehow seem to land in the same situation over and over despite our best efforts. If we are navigating the sometimes complex journey of our own unique recovery path, we may frequently have the thought, "Here I am on this new path so...what do I do now?!" Coaching can assist in sailing more smoothly over the seas of our change and transformation process, allowing us to uncover new strengths and gifts, as well as discover what gives us both a new (or renewed ) sense of purpose and reason for being.

Why am I using the word “we” when I’m talking about ADHD, issues related to mental health conditions, addiction(s) and recovery, African-American and/or multiracial identity?
I have personal experience with these issues. My passion comes from a place of learning to effectively manage, thrive with, and view my own challenges as assets rather than deficits. This personal experience and my passion for coaching clients, allows me to be more intuitive, empathetic and supportive. My professional training as a coach informs my ability to, when appropriate, be direct and laser-focused. I understand what works and what doesn’t. Working with me, clients will learn that for most problems, there are many solutions.

My Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
It is my intention to make a positive difference in the world by serving all of my communities. As a biracial African-American woman born in San Francisco, raised in Oakland, California and now living in Los Angeles, it is my mission to create and facilitate greater awareness, dialogue and action focused on reducing stigma on issues related to mental health conditions, “invisible” disabilities, addiction/recovery and identity, especially in marginalized communities, including but not limited to the Black communit(ies), other communities of color and the LGBTQIA+ communities and their intersections in both my coaching practice and my own life.

My Life Outside of Coaching
When I’m not working with clients, you can find me drawing and painting portraits and abstracts with really bright acrylics. I also love comedy, especially Josh Johnson, Maria Bamford and selectively curated sketches from Saturday Night Live.
